Mike Beard PhD, FRSA

Mike is Director of REM State, an organisation established to provide practical techniques, skills and training to better enable emotional and mental health (www.rem-state.com).

Mike works therapeutically with children, adults and families across a broad range of mental health difficulties. He worked originally within the Criminal Justice Service, and in a subsequent role has developed, delivered and directed therapeutic services for a specialist residential facility for young people. He has also worked within an Education Authority to develop and deliver training for health and education professionals working with vulnerable young children.

Mike lectures for MindFields College (a specialist psychology college in the UK) and is a consultant for BEAT (formerly the national Eating Disorders Association). He also lectures on aspects of emotional and mental health for Devon Education Services and for the University of Plymouth, and teaches as part of Exeter, East & Mid Devon’s Hospiscare training programme.

He is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
